Fresh is a community loving, Unapologetically Fat, Black, genderqueer, working class, relocated southerner.

Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, Fresh is a transplant to the midwest now calling Chicago home. An engineering and physics nerd turned farming chef, Fresh has professionally studied cooking in Thailand and the US including working in the elite kitchens of Google and Facebook. But their community-based edible activism among communities of color, elders, queer folx and youth is where their heart most deeply resides . Granddaughter to sharecroppers her connection to land started early. While a long time grower, their identity as a farmer is just beginning. Fresh is the founder of Fresher Together. Fresher Together is a collaborative food and farming project for healing, economic development, training and retreat.

Fresh strives to make nourishing food accessible to all and is committed to building abundant access, pleasure and accessible quality affirming health care for all centering BIPOC, queer, GNC, trans, and Fat folks.A Farming Chef and community leader with a background in Nonprofit management and development, Fresh is trying to transform & expand racial equity in the Regional Grain Economy as well to make quality fresh food accessible to her community. In addition to serving on the boards of Howard Brown Health and Transformative Justice Law Project (TJLP), Chef Fresh is the Director of Chicago Bread Club and founder of Fresher Together and was named one of Crain’s 2021 Notable LGBTQ Executives.
